Netflix Sets Season 2 Debut For ‘Orange Is The New Black’
Netflix revealed over the weekend that that season two of its popular original series, Orange Is The New Black, will premiere on June 6.
The official Orange Is The New Black Twitter account announced Saturday that new episodes will debut in all Netflix territories on that date, and released this 17-second teaser clip:
Netflix subs who binged out on season 2 of House Of Cards on Friday (February 14) apparently got word of the debut date before everyone else. According to Buzzfeed, Netflix revealed the coming debut date at the end of the House Of Cards season 2 finale.
Season one of the prison drama/comedy, produced by Lionsgate Television and starring Taylor Schilling, Natasha Lyonne and Kate Mulgrew, debuted on July 11, 2013.
Netflix revealed in its annual report that the streaming giant will spend a record $3 billion on content rights in 2014, with 10% going toward its expanding original library.
Netflix ended 2013 with more than 44 million streaming subs, including 34.26 million in the U.S. It expects to boost its global sub figure beyond 48 million by the end of the first quarter.
