Netflix, AMC, Comedy Central Top Writers Guild Awards Nominations

Content streaming service Netflix drew an industry high seven Writers Guild Awards nominations, led by its comedy series Orange Is The New Black, the Writers Guild of America announced Thursday.

AMC and Comedy Central led all cable networks with five nominations each, followed by Showtime’s four, according to the Guild. AMC’s Breaking Bad garnered four nominations, including one in the best drama category where it will compete with network sibling drama series Mad Men, CBS’ The Good Wife, Showtime’s Homeland and Netflix’s House of Cards.

Orange Is the New Black (pictured) also drew four Writer’s Guild nominations, including one for best Comedy Series. Other competitors in the category include 30 Rock (NBC), Modern Family (ABC), Parks And Recreation (NBC), and Veep (HBO).

In the New Series category, Netflix (House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black) and Showtime (Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan) will face-off, with FX’s The Americans rounding out the nominations.
