NBCU’s Multiplatform Man

Michael Bonner, 36

NBC Universal

Michael Bonner, NBC Universal’s senior vice president of digital platforms, never met a platform he didn’t like. Having worked in film and television for many years, he now manages NBCU’s TV content development across multiple platforms, including Internet protocol TV, interactive TV and on demand.

Previously, as vice president of new media for NBCU Cable, he spearheaded NBCU’s presence on iTunes and led the development of interactive applications for the Torino Olympics and the U.S. Open.

“I’m excited to be working with the various NBCU brands to develop new product offerings that meet the needs and technological advances of our multiplatform distributors,” Bonner said.

Prior to NBC’s merger with Universal, Bonner was vice president of business development for Universal Television Group.

While there, Bonner was part of an executive management team that oversaw the cable networks USA Network, Sci Fi Channel, Trio and NWI; broadcast and cable production (including such shows as Law & Order); syndication; and distribution divisions of Vivendi Universal Entertainment.

Before joining Universal, he worked for Studios USA and USA Broadcasting, both divisions of Barry Diller’s USA Entertainment Group.

Bonner began his career in entertainment in 1993 at fledgling film distributor Savoy Pictures before moving over to the company’s television division in 1996 to manage SF Broadcasting.
