NBA Promotes Bass to EVP Communications

The NBA has promoted veteran Mike Bass to executive vice president, communications.

Bass, who had been serving as senior vice president, marketing communications, will oversee all public relations for the NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League, including basketball and business communications, on a global basis. Tim Frank, NBA senior vice president, basketball communications, will continue to direct the basketball communications efforts for all three leagues and will report to Bass, who, in turn, reports to NBA deputy commissioner and COO Adam Silver.

NBA communications, comprising basketball communications and marketing communications divisions, operates globally and is responsible for the league’s communications functions, including: basketball media operations, media relations, business public relations, corporate communications, crisis management, and digital media communications.  

In his previous job, Bass led communications strategy for several of the NBA's most critical issues, including the league's last Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations, the past two TV agreements, and its digital and global initiatives.
