MTV Networks said it cut a deal with private equity firm H&Q Asia Pacific that will give MTV 100% ownership of MTV Japan. MTVN previously held a minority stake in the network.
In addition to MTV Japan, MTVN owns and operates Nickelodeon and digital media brand Flux in Japan. After the deal closes, MTVN said it will combine MTV Japan with Nickelodeon and Flux.
MTV Japan debuted in 2001.
