MTV: Music Television will debut Coldplay Live Leak Sunday, June 5 at 8 p.m. (EST/PST), the network said Monday.
The hour-long special will feature the band performing several new tracks from X&Y, its new album, which is set for a June 7 release.
Prior to Coldplay Live Leak, MTV will air a half-hour special at 7:30 p.m. featuring an in-depth interview with the band discussing the new album and a behind-the-scenes look as Coldplay interacts with their fans.
The network said the band’s performance from Coldplay Live Leak will also be streamed for listening on MTV.com (www.mtv.com) beginning June 8.
“Coldplay Live Leak will give fans an amazing opportunity to experience the new album both on-air and online,” MTV, MTV2 and mtvU vice president of music and talent programming Amy Doyle said in a prepared statement.
“Our audience demands unique access to new music,” she added. “By combining the platforms of MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com, we are able to deliver on those demands and support artists and bands in a powerful new way.”
