MTV Latin America announced the nominees for the third-annual MTV Video Music Awards Latin America 2004 Tuesday.
The VMALAs will air live from the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Thursday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. EST, 10 p.m. in Mexico and 10:30 p.m. in Argentina and Chile.
Mexico’s Julieta Venegas and Café Tacvba topped the list with five nominations each, followed by Spain’s Alejandro Sanz and Argentina’s Diego Torres and Babasonicos with four apiece and Chilean band La Ley with three.
“This list of nominees mirrors the diverse taste of our audience in Latin America and emphasizes how MTV continues to provide a vehicle for local artists to cross borders among different countries,” MTV Networks Latin America vice president of music and artist relations José Tillán said in a prepared statement.
