MTV gave the go-ahead for two new series from its news and documentaries department: Engaged & Underage and MTV Show Choir.
Engaged is a half-hour documentary series following young couples 18-21 during the final weeks leading up to their weddings. The first of eight episodes is scheduled to air in winter 2007.
The other new series, MTV Show Choir, also consists of eight half-hour episodes and debuts in spring 2007. The show follows the Morgantown, W. Va., Show Choir, which performs songs in four-part harmony, complete with costumes and choreography, throughout a competitive season. The televised season will be the choir’s first attempt performing pop songs -- a leap from more traditional Broadway show tunes.
