MSNBC.com Turns Profitable
By Matt Stump
published MSNBC.com (www.msnbc.msn.com) took the unusual step of issuing a press release saying that it has reached profitability in the current quarter.
The company said it expects annual revenue to reach $45 million this year. It's rare that Internet sites release financial information.
The Web site sports more than 70 advertisers that spend at least $100,000 per year, MSNBC.com said. Some 80% of the revenue came from the company's top 60 advertisers.
The site boasts content from NBC News, MSNBC, Newsweek, The Washington Post, CNBC and NBC Sports.
