More Horsing Around On Animal Planet

Animal Planet viewers can expect more horseplay, starting next month.

The Discovery Networks service will debut three new equestrian-oriented programs -- Rolex Superstar of Jumping, Rolex Gran Prix of Show Jumping and FTI Hampton Classic Grand Prix, filled with world-class champion riders and horses, top trainers, and an emphasis on the skills and techniques it takes to be a winner.

Superstars of Show-Jumping debuts July 16, while Rolex Grand Prix of Show-Jumping and the FTI Hampton Classic Grand Prix premiere Aug. 2 and Oct. 4, respectively.

The Rolex Grand Prix of Show Jumping marks the final opportunity for competitors to qualify for the U.S. Olympics Equestrian Team.  

“With the addition of these thrilling world-class competitions to the Animal Planet roster, we are tapping into equestrian enthusiasts’ passion for horse sport,” said Victoria Lowell, senior vice president of marketing for Animal Planet Media. in a statement.

Sports commentator and athlete Lewis Johnson will host the three shows, assisted by Andrew Catalone, contributor for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and Kim Prince, U.S. horse trainer and competitor.
