Miss Universo 2011 Delivers Viewership, Demo Gains For Telemundo
Telemundo's Monday telecast of Miss Universo 2011 scored double-digit gains in viewers and among persons 18 to 49, compared with last year's pageant.
The Sept. 12 telecast -- Miss Angola took home the title -- averaged 1.89 million viewers, up 15% from 1.64 million for the 2010 Miss Universe show, according to Nielsen data. All told, Monday's airing reached more than 4 million people who watches some or all of the event, according to Telemundo officials.
The pageant attracted 1.02 million persons 18 to 49, up 14% from the 889,000 from that group that viewed the event on Aug. 23, 2010.
Telemundo executives said Miss Universo 2011 was the top show in its time period in Miami, New York and Puerto Rico, regardless of language.
