Milestones for HGTV, Food, NGC
By David Cohen
Home & Garden Television and Food Network will surpass the 90 million-household mark this month, while National Geographic Channel announced that it topped the 60 million-subscriber mark.
Scripps Networks, parent of HGTV and Food, said the former added about 2.3 million households in the past year, while the latter tacked on 3 million.
HGTV will reach 91 million households in September, while Food’s total will hit 90.7 million, the programmer added.
As for NGC, Nielsen Media Research said it now reaches more than 61 million homes, making it one of only three networks launched since 2000 to reach that mark, along with MTV2 and Oxygen.
