Nickelodeon Tuesday announced its latest animated series, ‘The Mighty B!’ will premiere Saturday, April 26. The half-hour series set in San Francisco follows the adventures of a proud Honeybee troop member who strives to become a mysterious superhero.
The series was co-created by Saturday Night Live veteran Amy Poehler, The Fairly OddParents’ staff writer Cynthia True and SpongeBob SquarePants’ storyboard artist Erik Wiese.
Series regulars will include Poehler, as “Bessie Higgenbottom,” Andy Richter as “Benjamin” and Kenan Thompson as “Rocky.”
The series premiere will air at 10:30 p.m. ET with another new episode scheduled for broadcast Sunday, April 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
“Nickelodeon is absolutely thrilled to have a comedy team of the caliber of Amy, Erik and Cynthia create this iconic character for a new generation,” Brown Johnson, president of animation at Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group, said in a statement. “Bessie is certainly a character who demonstrates that with the right blend of optimism, enthusiasm and fun, every kid can be a superhero.”
Nickelodeon will offer additional short-form videos of The Mighty B!, Bessie-themed playlists and instant replays of episodes on TurboNick, the network’s broadband video service. Clips of the show will also be available on Nick Mobile through its various wireless partners.
