MavTV Inks Movie Licensing Deal With Sony

Men's-targeted network MAVTV has secured its first major film licensing deal from Sony Pictures Television.

The pact will add such theatricals as Casualties of War and Escape From New York to the programming lineup of the 35-million home network.

The films will serve as lead-ins to its lineup of original content aimed at guys 18 to 54, including Speed Freaks, AMA Motorcycle Racing, Bikini AllStars, Ultimate Combat Experience and I Love This Bartender.

"MAVTV is committed to bringing new and illuminating content for its viewers and it gives us great pleasure to work with Sony Pictures Television on this theatrical film licensing deal," said MavTV president and COO Steve Smith in announcing the deal, terms of which were not disclosed. "Not only will these films strengthen our already established programming schedule, but will help MAVTV expand and adapt to an increasingly evolving television market."
