Lifetime Television is trying to fight a crime that takes place in the United States once every six minutes.
The network said Wednesday that it is teaming up with The National Center for Victims of Crime and ChoicePoint, a national identification and credential-verification service, to educate women on how they can protect themselves and their families from identity thieves.
The network will also air Lifetime Original Movie Identity Theft: TheMichelle BrownStory Monday, Nov. 1 at 9 p.m. (EST/PST). The film is based on a true story.
The education campaign includes online tips (www.lifetimetv.com) and nationally distributed brochures, and it was created with help from the Federal Trade Commission and two of the country’s top groups in the area of identity theft, the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse and the IdentityTheftResourceCenter.
