Lifetime Greenlights ‘Trip To Bountiful’ Film

Lifetime will air a movie adaptation of Tony Award-nominated Broadway play The Trip To Bountiful in 2014, the network announced Tuesday.

The Trip To Bountiful stars Cicely Tyson – who won a 2013 Tony Award for her starring role in the inspirational play -- and Vanessa Williams will reprise their roles in the Lifetime movie, with Blair Underwood (In Treatment) and Keke Palmer (CrazySexyCool) joining the cast for the female-targeted network's version.

The Trip To Bountiful, which closed its most recent Broadway run Oct. 9,  tells the tale of one woman’s quest to reconnect with her past in order to ensure her family’s future. The Trip to Bountiful also received Tony nominations for Best Revival of a Play, Best Featured Actress in a Play (Condola Rashad) and Best Sound Design.
