Kasenna Gets IPTV Patent
By MCN Staff published
Kasenna Inc. said Wednesday that it has been awarded a core patent on an Internet-protocol-TV content-distribution technique.
The vendor said the new technology will allow large, decentralized IPTV networks to scale more cost-effectively.
The company added that U.S. Patent 6,859,840, “Prefix Caching for Media Objects,” provides a general mechanism for distributing content from a content-management system maintained at an origin-server cluster to a set of edge nodes.
Kasenna said it currently has 12 issued patents and several pending, all centered on IPTV-content management, distribution and delivery.
