Insight Communications 2Q Sales Surge 16%

Insight Communications Tuesday reported second-quarter earnings of $71 million on sales of $214.8 million, up 15% and 16%, respectively, from the same period last year.

The nation’s 10th-largest cable operator, which serves subscribers in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, said it added another 42,600 customers in the quarter—including another 3,800 basic cable subscribers, 12,400 high-speed Internet subscribers, 9,200 digital cable accounts and 18,700 new telephone customers.

Company officials said that as of June 30, 99% of its customers were passed by its two-way, 750 MHz or higher capacity network.

Insight Communications ended the quarter with more than 742,000 total customers.
