History Renews ‘Alone’

History Wednesday announced it has renewed its survival competition series Alone for a third season prior to the show’s second season premiere tomorrow night.

The series, which places 10 hardcore survivalists alone in the wilderness with a $500,000 cash prize to the contestant who survives the longest, will premiere its second season tomorrow night (April 21. The third season of Alone will see the series move from Vancouver Island to South America, according to network officials.

The season one finale of Alone drew 2.4 million total viewers, a 50% increase over its series premiere, said network officials.

“The success of Alone truly speaks to the fact that there is simply nothing else like it on television.” said Paul Cabana, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming of History. “Season two truly takes the series to the next level and gives us the confidence to trigger season three immediately.”
