Home Box Office will debut documentary The Journalist and the Jihadi: The Murder of Daniel Pearl this fall.
The film -- a joint effort by HBO Documentary Films, Moving Picture Co., First Take and Anant Singh’s Distant Horizon -- will track the parallel lives of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and jihadi Omar Sheikh, whose paths crossed in Pakistan with tragic consequences.
Journalist Christiane Amanpour will narrate The Journalist and the Jihadi, which will be directed and produced by Ahmed A. Jamal and Ramesh Sharma. Anant Singh (Sarafina!, Cry, The Beloved Country, HBO Films’ Oscar-nominated Yesterday) also produced, the network said.
