Harmonic Puts Audible Magic's Fingerprints On Web Video

Harmonic plans to integrate Audible Magic's audio and video fingerprinting tools with its Rhozet Carbon Coder transcoding system, a step the companies said will make it easier for copyright owners to track their video assets online.

Under the partnership, Harmonic's Rhozet Carbon Coder will be able to embed Audible Magic digital fingerprints into video for Internet distribution. After registering content with Audible Magic, content owners can then identify copyrighted content, analyze usage, validate compliance and licensing terms, detect duplicated content, tag content more precisely target ads and perform other actions.

Audible Magic provides content management and antipiracy services to 150 customers worldwide, including Viacom, NBC Universal, 20th Century Fox, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, EMI and Sony BMG. Web-site providers that use Los Gatos, Calif.-based company's content-identification services include YouTube, MTV, Microsoft, Facebook, News Corp.'s MySpace, Dailymotion and Veoh.

"Video content owners have told us that they need a quick and efficient method for generating and registering fingerprints of their content," Audible Magic CEO Vance Ikezoye said in announcing the partnership. "By integrating our fingerprint technology with Rhozet Carbon Coder, which has established a well-earned reputation for performance, we are able to provide a rapid and easy solution to meet their needs."
