'Hammertime' For A&E

It will soon be Hammertime for A&E.
The network, is currently in production on show tracking the life of rapper/dance MC Hammer, his wife and their family of seven.

A&E has already mined Nielsen success with docuseries about a music celebrity. Gene Simmons Family Jewels, tracking the Kiss bassist, his long-time soft-porn star girlfriend Shannon Tweed and their children, has performed well for the network over the years. The service has also scored well with real-life entry, Dog The Bounty Hunter, the series tracking Duane Chapman and his man-hunting Hawaii brood.

The 11-episode Hammertime is slated to premiere later this year, according to A&E officials. The show is produced for A&E Network by 3 Ball Productions Inc. (Biggest Loser, Beauty and the Geek). J.D Roth, Todd Nelson and MC Hammer are series executive producers. Executive producers for A&E are Robert Sharenow, Scott Lonker and Stephen Harris.
"MC Hammer is an iconic figure in American pop culture but many people only know him for his music and fashion sense, now A&E takes an unprecedented look behind his larger-than-life personality and into his life as a devoted husband, father and business entrepreneur," said A&E senior vice president, nonfiction and alternative programming Robert Sharenow in a statement. "Hammertime truly captures the intimate, funny and genuine moments that resonate with our viewers and underscore the essence of our brand."
