Cable veteran and G4TechTV chief operating officer Debra Green has exited the network, officials confirmed last week.
Green reportedly left her post in the aftermath of a reorganization at the Comcast Corp.-owned video gaming channel a few weeks ago, according to one source.
Comcast last week referred questions about Green’s departure to G4TechTV. A spokeswoman for the network said, “I just can’t comment on personnel matters whatsoever.”
Charles Hirschhorn, who developed the idea for G4 and is now the network’s CEO, couldn’t be reached for comment. And reportedly, Green isn’t the only employee who is gone. A number of people, more than a dozen, were let go when G4TechTV cancelled several shows, a source said.
Green, a longtime veteran of E! Entertainment Television and Rainbow Media Holdings, had been with G4 since before its launch in the spring of 2002.
G4, the first wholly owned national network developed and rolled out by Comcast, acquired TechTV from Vulcan Inc. for $300 million in May and merged it with G4’s operations.
G4’s merger with TechTV jump-started its distribution, since the dignet was only in about 15 million homes. It added TechTV’s 40 million households back in the spring.
The combined G4TechTV is now in 49.7 million homes, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Green, former senior vice president of affiliate relations for E!, and Dale Hopkins, E!’s ex-senior vice president of marketing, were both part of G4’s founding team. They left E! in 1999, not long after Lee Masters, now known as Jarl Mohn, exited as E!’s president.
