Gandolfini Gets Exclusive with HBO

Three-time Emmy Award-winner James Gandolfini signed a three-year exclusive producing deal with HBO.

The Sopranos star is teaming up with former Paramount executive Alex Ryan to launch Attaboy Films, which will develop and produce original programming for HBO. Attaboy will also have a first-look deal for feature projects at HBO’s specialty-film-distribution arm, Picturehouse.

Among the upcoming Attaboy projects are: Hemingway, a drama about the romance between the famed author (played by Gandolfini) and war correspondent Martha Gellhorn; and Occupation Iraq, a documentary with HBO Documentary Films.

Gandolfini is also at work on the last season of The Sopranos, and he will appear in two feature films, All the King’s Men and Lonely Hearts.
