G4 Aids Affils, Picks Bird

G4 is launching a new affiliate Web site (affiliate.g4tv.com), as well as its first-ever local-ad-sales program.

And the network announced that it will use SES Americom Inc.’s “AMC-10” satellite for primary programming distribution in North America.

The new site offers cable operators access to information including programming, marketing, acquisitions, training materials, newsletters, press releases, operations and contact information.

“We want to provide our affiliates with a tremendous amount of support and access to information in order to maximize G4’s potential in the marketplace,” senior vice president of ad sales and distribution Dale Hopkins said in a prepared statement. “Our new Web site offers a unique destination and one-stop shop for all things G4.”

As far as local ad sales, the network has created three taggable spots with customizable sales materials for local ad-sales representatives to sell to local advertisers during G4’s top three shows -- X-Play, The Whip Set and Attack of the Show!.

On the subject of birds, the AMC-10 satellite is one of two advanced birds supporting the HD-PRIME cable neighborhood, and it reaches every cable headend in the United States.

“G4 has a technically savvy and demanding audience, and as we continue to offer programming over new, nontraditional platforms to serve viewers wherever they are, it is critical that we have the right distribution partner to deliver on our mission,” G4 VP of broadcast operations Rob Hause said in a prepared statement.
