FSN Midwest to Air 1968 Cards-Tigers Series Clash

FSN Midwest will air the first game of the 1968 World Series -- which, like the current year’s Fall Classic, pitted the St. Louis Cardinals against the Detroit Tigers -- Monday at 7 p.m.

Monday is a travel day during the 2006 World Series, which is heading to St. Louis tied at one game apiece for game three Tuesday night.

In game one of the 1968 Series, which was played Oct. 2, 1968, Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson struck out a World Series record 17 batters as St. Louis beat the Tigers 4-0 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Late baseball broadcast Hall of Famers Curt Gowdy handled play-by-play for the broadcast and Harry Caray was the analyst.
