Foxtel Connects With Digitalsmiths

Foxtel, a top subscription TV provider in Australia with 2.3 million subscribers, has picked Digitalsmiths’ Seamless Discovery and Unified Data Service platforms to provide metadata management and to support personalized search and recommendation features across for its range of video services.

Under the deal, Foxtel will use the Digitalsmiths system across its broadcast and IPTV platforms, including live TV, time-shifted video, premium channels and VOD across all connected devices.  

When combined with a system that manages hundreds of video metadata sources that include images, reviews, ratings, cast, directors and scheduling information, the Unified Data Service creates a single index where multiple video-related data sources are ingested, aggregated, reconciled and stored, said Digitalsmiths.

The Digitalsmiths Unified Data Service is pre-integrated with TMS, a provider of TV, movie, and celebrity metadata.

Other Digitalsmiths customers include Time Warner Cable, Cisco, Warner Bros., Paramount, Technicolor, Univision, Turner Sports, the NBA, the PGA, NASCAR, zeebox and i.TV.
