Fox News Leads with Audience, Demo as Romney Reels in Illinois

Mitt Romney was the clear-cut winner during the Republican presidential primary in Illinois Tuesday night and so was Fox News Channel.

The cable news sector leader averaged 2.17 million watchers, more than doubling the combined total of 1.41 million for MSNBC (824,000) and CNN (584,000), according to Nielsen data.
Fox News Channel also set the pace in the so-called news demo on March 20, with 467,000 adults 25 to 54, versus 256,000 for MSNBC and 204,000 for CNN.
With FNC airing an election night edition of Special Report with Bret Baier in the 11 p.m. hour, FNC averaged 1.49 million watchers, including 374,000 in the demo, from 9 p.m. through midnight. MSNBC again placed second with 632,000 viewers and 216,000 adults 25 to 54, compared with 547,000 and 199,000, respectively, for CNN.
