Jennifer Storms, 35
Jennifer Storms established herself in sports at age 8 as a nationally ranked downhill skier, and a few years later was running the Olympic Torch in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Not surprisingly, she is now the first female senior vice president of marketing and programming at Turner Sports.
“It is an incredibly exciting time to be working in the cable industry with more and more major championship sports making the move from broadcast to cable,” said Storms. “Couple that with all of the innovative multi-platform media and promotional opportunities we are trying at Turner Sports, like our Wide Open Coverage concept for the Pepsi 400 in July, and we are reaching and engaging more sports fans than ever before.”
Storms got her start in Mar Del Plata, Argentina, as a games preparation liaison for the U.S. Olympic Committee. A year later, Turner Sports recruited her as manager of programming, from which she rose quickly through the ranks.
A few of her career highlights have been her role in acquiring cable rights for NASCAR, and the launch in 2005 of Turner Sports’ first broadband product: TNT Overtime on NBA.com.
Storms also launched the Creative Services Sports Unit, which saved the company millions of dollars in external production costs.
