ESPN Gets On Its Soap Box
ESPN will air the 69th All-American Soap Box Derby Championships presented by Levi Strauss Signature live from Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio, Saturday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. (EST).
The network said veteran IRL IndyCar Series announcerVince Welch will host the telecast, with analysis by Soap Box Derby historianJeff Iula. ReportersKrista Voda andShannon Spake will cover the pits.
A youth initiative of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, the All-American Soap Box Derby is the premier youth- and family-oriented racing program in the United States, involving boys and girls 8-17 around the world, the network added.
ESPN2 will reair the event Thursday, July 27 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.
