ESPN Deportes Magazine on Its Way

ESPN and Editorial Televisa will publish a monthly Spanish-language edition of ESPN-The Magazine beginning later this year, the network said Wednesday.

ESPN Deportes will be available on newsstands and via subscription, ESPN said.

The magazine will contain a mix of original content targeted to the interests of U.S. Hispanics, material from the English-language edition of ESPN-The Magazine and contributions from Editorial Televisa.

A preview edition of ESPN Deportes is planned for May, and it will cover sports including Major League Baseball, as well as Caribbean and Mexican League baseball; boxing; the National Football League; Latin American, European and international soccer; auto racing; and action sports.

“A Spanish-language edition of ESPN-The Magazine is a response to advertisers and readers who have been calling for a regularly published sports magazine targeted to U.S. Hispanics," ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer said in a prepared statement.

“It is also a natural extension of our efforts to serve Hispanic sports fans, and it complements our other ESPN Deportes-branded initiatives, including television, radio, Internet and wireless,” he added.
