Ensequence Targets Second-Screen Apps With Zeitera

Interactive TV developer Ensequence is teaming up with Zeitera, a provider of automatic content recognition technology, to deliver a solution for creating and deploying interactive applications on smartphones and tablets that are synchronized with content on the TV screen.

The solution will give customers of the Ensequence iTV Manager interactive platform the ability to create synchronized two-screen experiences for TV shows and commercials, using Zeitera's Vvid content-identification system.

Second-screen applications enabled by the solution include social-networking check-in and discussion; voting, polling and request for information experiences; and coupon services for brand marketers.

"Offering synchronized interactivity on tablets and smartphones is a great way to complement the programming and adverting offered on the TV -- which ultimately keeps viewers more deeply engaged with content," Ensequence chief technology and product officer Aslam Khader said in a statement.

Zeitera, a privately held startup based in Mountain View, Calif., was founded in 2006.
