Docuseries Debuts Tonight Ahead of NHL Stadium Series

NBCSN will drop the puck tonight on the docuseries chronicling the National Hockey League’s outdoor Stadium Series and the upcoming Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia.

The seven-part NHL Revealed: A Season Like No Otherwill premiere on Jan. 22 at 11 p.m. (ET) on NBCSN, following the channel’s "Wednesday Night Rivalry" presentation of the Chicago Blackhawks-Detroit Red Wings contest.

Produced by Toronto-based Bristow Global Media and its principal Julie Bristow, formerly of the CBC, and ex-HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg as an executive producer for the league, NHL Revealed tells the stories of nine teams -- on and off the ice -- as they play in the four NHL Stadium Series contests in the U.S. and the 2014 NHL Heritage Classic in Canada. Cameras will follow the NHL’s top stars as they travel to Sochi next month to compete in the Winter Olympics and then reunite in North America to begin the march to the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs.

NHL Revealed, making its Canadian bow on the CBC on Jan. 23 at 9 p.m. (ET), will serve as a lead-in for the NHL Stadium Series. The first faces off on Jan. 25 at 9:30 p.m. on NBCSN with the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in the first outdoor NHL game ever played in southern California.

The aeriescontinues on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 12:30 p.m. on NBC with the New York Rangers-New Jersey Devils from Yankee Stadium, followed by a second game at the ballpark in The Bronx with the Rangers-New York Islanders on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. on NBCSN.

After the Winter Games in Russia, the contests conclude Stateside on Saturday, March 1 at 8 p.m. on NBC with Penguins-Blackhawks from Soldier Field in Chicago. The game will join the 2011 NHL Winter Classic as the only other league regular-season primetime broadcast on the Peacock.

The 2014 NHL Heritage Classic wraps up this run of signature events on Sunday, March 2, in Vancouver, where the Canucks host the Ottawa Senators at BC Place at 1 p.m. (PT).

The inaugural NHL regular-season outdoor game took place in Edmonton, Alberta on Nov. 22, 2003, when the Oilers played the Montreal Canadiens, which served as a prelude to six subsequent NHL Winter Classics on New Year’s Day, including the record-setting contest at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor this year.
