Disney Licenses Hannah, Cheetah Toys

Disney Consumer Products and toy manufacturer Jakks Pacific teamed up to produce a new line of toys based on Disney Channel properties Hannah Montana and The Cheetah Girls.

Due to debut at the 2007 American International Toy Fair -- held in New York Feb. 11-14 -- the fashion dolls and role-play items will play up fashion and music themes found in the two popular series.

“Tweens have developed a great connection with Hannah Montana and The Cheetah Girls, resulting in an aspirational following that not only enables girls to emulate the characters, but encourages them to believe in themselves,” said Lisa Avent, vice president of TV licensing at Disney Consumer Products. “As we grow these characters into lifestyle brands, we want to ensure that the products embody the uniqueness and freshness of each property and the new toy line from Jakks Pacific delivers on these details.”

Toys will be offered through several Jakks divisions, including fashion dolls and play-sets from Play Along and role-play and dress-up items from Creative Designs International.

Hannah Montana debuted as the highest rated premiere in Disney Channel history, while TheCheetah Girls property boasts two movies, as well as concert tours and an original soundtrack.
