Disney Channel's 'Sofia The First' Bows Regally

Disney Junior’s preschool series Sofia the First scored a lot of firsts with its debut.

The Jan. 11 premiere from 9:30 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. ranked as the No. 1 preschool series launch in cable history among girls 2 to 5 (8.6 rating/673,000 of those viewers), persons 18 to 49 (0.8 rating, 948,000) and women 18 to 49 (1.1 rating/710,000), according to Nielsen data.

Featuring Disney princesses, the show also ranks as the No. 2 weekday preschool cable bow with 2.7 million viewers since August 14, 2000, behind only Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’s 2.8 million.

Moreover among the 2-to-5 set, Sofia the First almost tied Doc McStuffins as Disney Junior’s top weekday series launch (6.3/1 million).
