Dish Anywhere App To Add Video Transfers
Dish Network said it will soon launch a new version of the Dish Anywhere app for Android devices, iPads and iPhones that allows customers to transfer movies and TV shows for later offline viewing.
The addition of that component will enable the Dish Anywhere app to support Dish’s full set of live, recorded and on-demand programs when paired with the Hopper with Sling HD-DVR. Dish expects to offer the updated app by the end of the year.
Currently Dish offers two different apps for remote viewing – Dish Anywhere and Hopper Transfers. The update will unify the features on the same app. Customers will still be able to use the Hopper Transfers app to load recorded programs from a Hopper with Sling to mobile devices, but so far the Hopper Transfers app is only offered on the iPad.
“By year’s end, Hopper with Sling users will be able to remotely watch live and recorded shows and transfer recorded programs to their iOS and Android devices, all within the new DISH Anywhere app,” Vivek Khemka, senior vice president, product management at Dish, said in a statement.
Comcast has also begun to unify its app features with the recent debut of Xfinity TV Go, an app that offers access to about 35 live TV channels and a library of on-demand content that can be streamed or downloaded to mobile devices.
