Discovery Salutes Bennett with Promotion to Military Channel GM

Discovery Communications has upped the responsibility quotient for Kevin Bennett.

The non-fiction content company has elevated Bennett to general manager, Investigation Discovery and Military Channel, and executive vice president of programming for those services, as well as Destination America.

Bennett had been serving as general manager of Investigation Discovery and senior vice president, programming and research ID, Military Channel and Destination America. In his new position, his duties at Military Channel now encompass oversight of the long-term strategic vision, marketing, communications and digital efforts for the network in addition to the programming, development and production of content for the brand.

He will continue to report to Henry Schleiff, group president ID, Military Channel and Destination America.

A 17-year member of Discovery Communications’ programming and development team, Bennett has played key roles at the three networks. Prior to become part of Schleiff’s senior management team to lead the centralized programming, scheduling and research division for ID, Destination America and Military Channel, Bennett worked as senior vice president of programming at Discovery Channel, where he was responsible for planning, directing and executing the programming strategy for the flagship brand. As a development executive for ID and Military Channel, he helped to launch many of the brands’ successful franchises, including On the Case With Paula Zahn, I (Almost) Got Away with It and Disappeared.

“Over nearly four years of collaboration, I have had the privilege and pleasure of working with Kevin in our efforts to grow ID into a top 10 brand for women, while for the past year, Kevin has also led the Military Channel team to some of its strongest ratings in years,” said Schleiff.
