Discovery Names Campbell Digital President

Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav recruited one of his former NBC Universal colleagues to lead the company’s digital-media and business-development efforts, naming Bruce Campbell president of digital media, emerging networks and business development.

Discovery also promoted company veteran Clint Stinchcomb to executive vice president and general manager of Discovery Emerging Networks Group, which consists of Discovery HD Theater, Discovery Times Channel, The Military Channel, Discovery Home Channel, Discovery On Demand, Discovery Mobile and Turbo.

Stinchcomb will report to Campbell, who is currently executive VP of business development at NBC.

The personnel moves come about six weeks after Zaslav announced a sweeping reorganization at DCI. That shakeup saw several veterans leave the company, including Discovery Networks U.S. president Billy Campbell, TLC president and GM David Abraham, Animal Planet Media GM Maureen Smith, Discovery Networks International president Dawn McCall and DCI senior VP of human resources Pandit Wright.

More personnel moves are expected at Discovery. Zalav still must fill Abraham’s position at TLC, and the Discovery chief said in February that individual GMs would be hired within six months for Military, Discovery Times, Discovery Home and Discovery HD Theater.
