DirecTV Sales Chief Exits

John Suranyi, DirecTV’s president of sales and service, is leaving the company. In a brief press release DirecTV said that Suranyi had resigned, effective Friday.

Michael Palkovic, formerly the company’s chief financial officer, was appointed executive vice president of operations and will now oversee the satellite TV provider’s home service and installation network, call-center operations, supply chain and other related activities.

Patrick Doyle, the company’s chief accounting officer, has been appointed chief financial officer. Palkovic and Doyle along withPaul Guyardo, executive vice president of sales and marketing and chief marketing officer, will all report to Chase Carey, DirecTV’s president and CEO.

“I want to thank John for all his efforts and contributions to the company, and all of us at DirecTV wish him well in his new endeavors,” Carey said in a prepared statement. “He has solidified our position as the leader in customer satisfaction in the pay-television business, and we’re looking forward to building on that base going forward.”

Suranyi joined DirecTV in early 2004 and was appointed president of sales and service in 2005.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at DirecTV and I’m very proud of what we have accomplished over the past several years,” Suranyi said in a prepared statement. “While it has been rewarding to be part of this company during a period of rapid change, I’m now looking forward to new opportunities and leave the organization in good hands.”

Palkovic has been with the company for more than 10 years and was appointed chief financial officer for DirecTV in 2001, and then for The DirecTV Group in 2005. Doyle has also been at the company for more than 10 years and has been chief accounting officer of the DirecTV Group since 2003.
