Cullen Leaving Charter

The brain drain at Charter Communications Inc. Wednesday claimed Tom Cullen, the MSO’s executive vice president of advanced services and business development.

Charter said Cullen resigned for personal reasons. Chief technical officer Wayne Davis’ responsibilities are expanding, and the MSO has marketing expert Steven Sjoblad as a consultant.

The company is looking to hire a chief marketing officer, and it has hired an executive recruiter to aid the search.

Other high-level Charter departures since January have notably included CEO Carl Vogel and Derek Chang, the interim co-chief financial officer.

Cullen -- who will stay on in a transitional role until the end of April -- previously worked at U S West Inc. and its MSO, MediaOne Group Inc. Vogel hired him at Charter in July 2003.
