A Conversation with Black Starz!

Starz Encore Group LLC’s Black Starz! is bringing three African-American filmmaking legends together for an original special.

Unstoppable: A Conversation withGordonParks, Melvin Van Peebles and Ossie Davis is set for a February debut on the network.

During the special, Parks (The Learning Tree, Shaft), Van Peebles (Classified X, Sweet Sweetbacks’ Baadasssss Song)and Davis (Cotton Comes to Harlem) get together for “a candid conversation about their extraordinary careers, the hard lessons learned and how filmmaking has and hasn’t changed for them,” the network said.

“Ossie Davis, Gordon Parks and Melvin Van Peebles took different paths but share much in common, including the extraordinary versatility of their talents -- acting, writing, directing, producing and composing,” senior producer John Lewis said in a prepared statement.

“Their careers have paved the way for a new wave of black filmmakers,” Lewis added. “Black Starz! is honored to have the opportunity to bring this story to life and present this unprecedented conversation with these important figures in cinema history to our subscribers.”
