A Comcast technician was found dead in Glen Ridge, N.J. in an apparent work-related incident, according to several published reports.
According to a NJ.com report, Comcast technician Michael Alfaro, 31, of Carteret, N.J., was found dead in the vicinity of 30 Appleton Road in Glen Ridge on Feb. 5. According to NJ.com, a PSE&G electric utility crew investigating a report of a blown fuse in the area found the unresponsive Alfaro on a ladder leaning against a utility pole. They called police and medical emergency personnel who retrieved the Comcast worker from the ladder, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the incident, but a report on NorthJersey.com said Borough officials indicated Alfaro’s death may have been due to electrocution.
"All of us at Comcast are deeply saddened by this tragic news and we extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to our employee's family and friends," a Comcast spokesman said in a statement.
