Comcast Survives IGN’s ‘Game Invasion’

Comcast Corp. will offer premium gaming service “Game Invasion” free-of-charge to its 8-megabit-per-second high-speed-data subscribers.

The MSO is teaming up with Fox Interactive Media Inc.’s IGN Entertainment unit on the service, which also provides free access to IGN’s video-game news; previews; reviews; cheats and codes; videos and trailers; and movie reviews, music, gear and sports content.

Comcast 8-mbps subscribers will get free subscriptions to “IGN Founder’s Club,” a $120 annual value that includes:

“FilePlanet,” first access to more than 330,000 free gaming downloads including demos, mods, patches and more;

“Download Manager,” which allows users to queue and download any number of files simultaneously;

“GameSpy Arcade & Arena,” access to 16 million registered users for online multiplayer games, competition ladders and tournaments via premium cheat-free servers; and

“IGN Insider,” exclusive content and community features for members.
