CNN Suspends Novak

Robert Novak walked outside Cable News Network’s Inside Politics, and he will pay the price.

The network said Friday that longtime contributor Novak was suspended indefinitely following an incident on the Thursday-night edition of Inside Politics, during which he used profanity and stormed off the set during a live interview, AP reported.

Novak is currently being investigated by federal authorities for revealing a CIA officer's name in a 2003 column.

On Thursday night’s Inside Politics, Novak and Democratic operative James Carville were handicapping the Senate candidacy of former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, AP reported, and Novak said the opposition of the Republican establishment in Florida might not be fatal for her. "Let me just finish, James, please," Novak added. "I know you hate to hear me, but you have to."

Carville, addressing the camera, said: "He's got to show these right-wingers that he's got a backbone, you know. It's why The Wall Street Journal editorial page is watching you. Show 'em that you're tough," AP reported.

“Well, I think that's bull____ and I hate that," Novak replied. "Just let it go." Then as moderator CNN correspondent Ed Henry asked Carville a question, Novak walked off the set, according to AP.

CNN spokeswoman Edie Emery told AP Novak's behavior was "inexcusable and unacceptable." Novak apologized to CNN, and the network was apologizing to viewers, she added
