Glenn Close and Patrick Stewart will star in Showtime Original Pictures’ remake of The Lion in Winter, the network said Wednesday.
The film is based on the Academy Award-winning screenplay by James Goldman, which was released theatrically in 1968.
Showtime’s version of The Lion in Winter -- about the bitter battle to choose King Henry II's successor -- was filmed on location in Hungary and at Spissky Castle in Slovakia.
The movie will debut on Showtime Sunday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. (EST/PST).
