Cineflix Studios Options 'It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me'

Cineflix Studios has optioned It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me, the award-winning Sunday Times' journalist Ariel Leve's book published in April by HarperCollins.
Leve wrote a pilot script based on the book, while Chris Keyser (Party of Five, Lone Star) is attached to consult. Set in New York, the single-camera half-hour comedy explores life's absurdities viewed through the eyes of Cassandra, a late thirties singleton, trying to figure out how to make the best of her life after a great career was interrupted and it's clear Mr. Big isn't coming to the rescue. The weekly Cassandra column was popular weekly feature in the Sunday Times.
Cineflix, part of the international media company Cineflix, which brings together a mix of global broadcast and production partners, major talent and key executives to get top quality original content produced and distributed for television and other emerging platforms, will be taking the project out to U.S. programmers. this summer.

"I was immediately drawn to Ariel's hilarious and unique voice that tells the honest story about what it's like to be a single woman over 35, who is not afraid to tell it like it is," said Cineflix Studios president Christina Wayne, the former AMC executive, who joined the company last month, in a statement. "I love the character of Cassandra, who says all the things you think but might never say out loud. When Cassandra does say them, they are so true; you connect to her character on a very visceral level."

The deal was brokered by Creative Artists Agency, Dan Halsted/Management and Rob Weisbach of Rob Weisbach Creative Management.
