IronPort Systems Inc. said Charter Communications Inc. will use its e-mail-security product for the MSO's high-speed-data subscribers.
"The increase in spam and viruses has become an increasing burden on our networking infrastructure and operational staff," Charter director of high-speed-data mail Bob Bosco said.
The IronPort “C60” tool includes throttling and reputation-filtering tools. The tools prevent spam from reaching customer in boxes, as well as controlling spam emanating from subscribers' PCs.
IronPort C60 also allows Charter to divide e-mail senders into unique categories and provides specific message-based rate limits for each sender.
