Cartoon Takes a ‘Walk’ vs. Diabetes

Cartoon Network and its affiliate partners will lend their support to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and its nationwide “Walk to Cure Diabetes” starting this fall and running through 2006.

The network will air a public-service announcement featuring Scooby-Doo and other characters, and it will host appearances by Scooby-Doo and giveaways at local walks by participating cable affiliates in markets throughout the United States.

The Walk to Cure Diabetes campaign -- a walkathon held in more than 200 locations throughout the year -- is dedicated to raising funds for research via the JDRF. Last year, The Walk raised more than $80 million for diabetes research.

“We are thrilled to offer, for the second year in a row, our cable affiliate partners an opportunity to get more involved in their local communities by supporting such an important cause,” Turner Network Sales vice president of strategic marketing Jennifer Mirgorod said in a prepared statement.
