Cartoon Puts Pedal to Promo

Cartoon Network is revving up a National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing promotion with Kellogg NA Co. and Mattel Inc.

The animation channel will give young race fans an opportunity to collect up to six exclusive “Hot Wheels NASCARtoon Racing Rev-Ups” cars, which use a special technology to climb steel surfaces.

Fans who send in four proof-of-purchases from 11 different participating Kellogg’s cereals -- including “Frosted Flakes,” “Raisin Bran” and “Corn Flakes” -- will receive one of the select racecars, which feature such popular Cartoon programs as Scooby-Doo (car No. 25), Codename: Kids Next Door (53), Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends (63), Johnny Bravo (5), The Powerpuff Girls (56) and Dexter’s Laboratory (86).

The Mattel racecar offer is scheduled to run through Sept. 30, 2006.

The campaign officially launches Aug. 26-27 at the Busch and Nextel NASCAR races at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, where three full-sized Cartoon-branded cars will compete.

Sister network Turner Network Television will cover the Aug. 27 Nextel race, in which Kyle Busch will drive the car emblazoned with Johnny Bravo imagery while Brian Vickers will steer the Scooby-Doo auto.
