CableServ Serving Major MSO

CableServ Inc. said Monday that one of North America’s largest MSOs will use its "Amplifier Upgrades" products to upgrade 10,000 miles of its bandwidth from 750 megahertz to 860 MHz.

The vendor -- which has upgraded thousands of miles of plant throughout North America for MSOs including Rogers Cable Inc., Adelphia Communications Corp., Comcast Corp., Charter Communications Inc., Mediacom Communications Corp. and Cox Communications Inc. -- would not name the MSO.

CableServ said its Amplifier Upgrades expand the capabilities of Motorola Inc., Philips Consumer Electronics, C-COR.net Corp., Scientific Atlanta Inc. and other amplifiers by increasing the forward and return bandwidth without respacing.

Amplifier upgrades can increase bandwidth to allow for up to 12 additional analog channels or 100 digital channels, CableServ added. Return activation and forward bandwidth expansion provide the opportunity to offer revenue-producing services such as high-speed data and video-on-demand.
